Jennie Durant is a writer, researcher, and author whose work explores why bees and other pollinators are declining, and what it will take to build a more just and sustainable food system. Her writing weaves together science, agriculture, environmental policy, and human stories to make complex ecological issues accessible to a broad audience.

Jennie received her PhD at University of California, Berkeley in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, and an M.F.A. in nonfiction writing from Saint Mary’s College of California. She completed a USDA-NIFA postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oregon and U.C. Davis. From 2021-2022, she served as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow with the American Association for the Academy of Sciences (AAAS) at the US Department of Agriculture, where she worked on pollinator policy and helped coordinate USDA's Climate Hubs.
